Spring is the tail end of Santa Barbara's surf season so there's a chance you could luck out if you want to get in the water. From your hotel it is possible to rent a board and wetsuit (try the Beach House) and walk to Leadbetter. The point will work on reasonable swells and is super mellow. See the google map.
