Synthesis Meeting Agenda

Wed March 26

Thurs March 27

  • 8:30-9 coffee and informal mixing in the NCEAS 3rd floor lounge
  • 9-9:30 a.m. NCEAS welcome from Stephanie Hampton in the 2nd floor meeting room
  • 9:30-10:30  Introductions among the students, brief summaries of projects from home institutions
  • 10:30-10:45 break
  • 10:45-noon First brainstorming session on synthesis projects
  • Noon-1 Lunch
  • 1-3 Continued brainstorming, geling of projects, break into subgroups
  • 3-3:30 snack break
  • 3:30-5 Begin work in earnest on synthesis projects
  • Note: All logistics issues that require NCEAS staff must be addressed on Thursday, because Friday is a University holiday
Group dinner at Arnoldi's at 7pm (see the google map for directions)

Fri March 28

  • *no support staff due to holiday*
  • work all day with breaks at 10:30, noon lunch, and 3:30

Sat March 29

  • work all day with breaks at 10:30, noon lunch, and 3:30

Sun March 30

  • work all day with breaks at 10:30, noon lunch, and 3:30

Mon March 31

  • wrap up, participants begin to leave

3. Create Your Profile

Click on your name (in the upper right hand corner of this screen), write a brief biography and upload a photo of yourself to enhance the cross-university partnership experience.

4. Syllabus

See the syllabus for course info and readings, and check back before class.

5. Class time

We will be meeting each Wednesdays at 10:45 PST via webcast for lecture, from Jan 23rd to Feb 27th.

Site Basics

  • The folders in the navigation area are the bulk of this website. There are folders for lectures, readings, data, etc. The course logistics folder has information you need to know about the course.
  • The People folder contains faculty and student contact information pages, as well as a search function.
  • Post your readings, data and more in your University workspace.
  • Use the Discussion Forum to keep in touch.

Post to the discussion forum "help!" if you are having trouble accessing a document or data, adding files or navigating this site.

Jason Kreitler, a UCSB graduate student, is the course coordinator. He will maintain this site, answer your help posts and generally be available to make sure all students and faculty have what they need for lectures and research.
